The Summer of 1763 focuses on the last year of the French and Indian War (Pontiac's Rebellion) in and around Western Pennsylvania. The lives, fears and terrors of the early settlers are brought to life as the Indian Nations struggle to keep their ancestrial land from being invaded by white settlers from foreign lands. The story centers on Westmoreland County, which at that time stretched from Bedford to the juncture of the Three Rivers. Settlers were pushing west driving the Native Americans out and occupying their land. Indian Chief Pontiac waged a war to reclaim the land. Settler's were killed, their cabins burnt and driven back East. A group known as the Pennsylvania Rangers fought back using the same tactics as the Indians. Not until after the battle of Bushy Run did the frontier return to relative quiet.  $14.95 Dog Ear Publishing

The Great Land Grab focuses on Western Pennsylvania concentrating on what is now the greater Pittsburgh area. This territory had been claimed by both Pennsylvania and Virginia since the 1600s and set the stage for hostility between the two colonies as well as the Native Americans. Characters from Hossler's previous book return in this story to fight for their families and the preservation of their way of life. The Native Americans of the territory fight to maintain the property rights granted them by the English crown in 1763. Wealthy political figures orchestrate a plan to confiscate the land. All parties converge upon the prize that is now Western Pennsylvania. Rife with bribery, deception, stealing, political intrigue, battle and pioneer spirit The Great Land Grab brings this struggle to life. $14.95 Dog Ear Publishing
